The asbestos-related diseases are a public health problem, as confirmed by the study conducted by Dr. Josep Tarrés, in Catalonia, which confirms that exposure to asbestos or asbestos multiplies by 47 the possibility of developing a fatal cancer. This result goes beyond occupational exposure and also points out the danger it poses to those found during an important period in the areas of influence of a clean heart.

To evaluate and analyze the importance of asbestos-related diseases, the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, via EROM Area (Occupational Respiratory Diseases and the Environment), has launched an online registration and follow-up survey workers with a history of contact with asbestos complete the National Registry of mesothelioma.

This benign epithelial neoplasm, sometimes called benign mesothelioma, is a locally growing tumor that is usually attached by a pedicle to the pleural surface.

It may be a small tumor (1 to 2 cm) or can be significantly larger, yet it remains confined to the lung surface. These tumors often produce curiously pleural effusion.
