Medical Detoxification
Detoxification is usually used as a precursor of other treatments treatment and its purpose is to mitigate the possible effects of the interruption of drug use. The LAAM, also a synthetic opioid drug to treat heroin addiction, can prevent the effects of heroin up to 72 hours. Other approved products are naloxone, which is used to treat cases of overdose, and naltrexone, which block the effects of morphine, heroin and other opiates.
